Say NO To Drugs: Part 3 (Alcohol)


 Alcohol is a legal drug that ONLY adults can use which means you must be 19 years or older to use, purchese or even possess these drugs such as Alcohol or Nicotine (under Canada's law system). Alcohol is a stimulant  (if you don't know what a stimulant is you probably didn't read my first post: Say NO to Drugs. If you have not read my first post, please go and read it  to understand what is happening on this post).
Alcohol is found in three main types of beverages: Liquor, Wine and Beer. Alcohol can also be found in some comenly used liquids, non-prescription drugs and products.

Once alcohol  is consumed, It has a phisycal effect on the body. This is the prosess alcohol goes through once it enters the body. Alcohol enters the stomachand passes into the blood stream. where it's caried through the body. The brain is one of the first areas that is affected. The liver and the kidneys get rid of SOME of the POISONS in alcohol.

Since this drug is a depresent it slows down the way our body works. \the more you drink, the more you can see the effects. This some people call getting "Drunk"

These are some of the effect of alcohol

THE SHORT TERM EFFECTS 
  for small amout of Alcohol
  • Slurred speech
  • Shorter temper
  • Feel more relaxed
  • Show poor judgement
  • Unable to think CLEARLY
  • Dull sense

THE SHORT TERM EFFECTS
for a large amount of Alcohol
Accidents
  • Vomiting
  • Accidents
  • Violance
  • Slower reflexes
  • Blood shot eyes                                                       
  • Trouble Walking
  • Breathing can slow down or even stop
  • Poor Vision
THE LONG TERM EFFECTS
 for a abuse of Alcohol
Brain Cells
  • Ulcer
  • Cancer                                                            
  • Osteoporosis
  • Inflamed stomach
  • Heart Disese & stroke
  • Permonantly distroys brain cells
  • Kills liver cells causing cirrhosis ( suh-ro-sis) of the liver, a leading cause of death

Say NO to Drugs: Part 2 (Caffeine)



Today I'm going to talk about Caffeine. Caffeine is a legal drug that everyone can use in Canada. It is a stimulant (if you don't know what a stimulant is you probably didn't read my first post: Say NO to Drugs. If you have not read my first post, please go and read it  to understand what is happening on this post)

What you probably don't know is that if you drink coffe,energy drinks, tea or eat chocolat you are using Caffeine. Once it enters the body,Caffeine causes a sudden burst of adrenaline, burst of energy which is temporary ( 4 to 6 hours). After it has left your bloodstream, you might feel a sudden drop of energy or a "crash" and become sluggish or drowsy.

These are the effects of Caffeine

 THE SHORT TERM EFFECTS

  • Heart rate and body tempreture increases
  • Pupils dilate
  • muscles tighten
  • glucose is relesed into your body for more energy
  • coordination and balance are effected

THE LONG TERM EFFECTS
Jitters
  • Ulcers or stomach problems
  • Cardica stress
  • Choronic insomnia
  • Irregular heart beat
  • Excess sweating
  • Jitters                                                                           
  • Anxiousness
  • Change in sleeping patterns or insomnia
  • High blood pressure
  • Restlessness
  • Nervousness

WITHDRAWL SYMPTOMS
Mood Swings
  • Headaches
  • Exterme Fatigue
  • Loss of appetite
  • Confusion or irritability                                       
  • Bowel problems
  • Mood swings
  • Muscle aches
  • Poor memory
